Founder / Gerry Mattingly
Gerry Mattingly started Evolve in 2009 when he left a pharmaceutical ad agency based in San Francisco to start what for him was his dream of mentoring men and showing them how to enhance their wardrobe for both in and out of the office. He decided the best place to begin this journey was in his hometown of Louisville, KY. So he went to create the only one of its kind in the region, an exclusively men's consignment store. Build it and they will come, and they did. He was viewed as a men's fashion juggernaut in the area, consistently being asked for advise from both customers, and when being interviewed by both local and national media. Sadly on May 4th, 2015 he lost his battle to cancer, he will be missed and those that sought fashion or life council from him feel that the most.
Brett Howard was one of Gerry's first customers during the early days of Evolve, and the two quickly become good friends and on many occasions drinking buddies. Both would consider themselves permanent members of the "fashion police." Always trying to assist other men wether in Louisville or wherever they were, both were more than willing to voice their opinions when someone asks. Even after Brett moved to Washington, DC the two spoke almost everyday about what was going on in each others lives and even after Gerry had been diagnosed with cancer the two traveled together to various locations before he passed. It was important to Gerry's family that the legacy of Evolve be carried on with some that had the same passion for clothes as Gerry did. If you haven't had chance to meet Brett stop by and say Hi!
